Credit Authorization
Last Updated: March 16, 2025
By submitting a loan application through Gold Scepter Finances LLC ("we," "us," or "our") or our website, you authorize us and our partner lenders to obtain and use your credit information for the purposes described in this Credit Authorization. This document explains what credit information may be obtained, who may obtain it, how it is used, and your rights under applicable law.
1. Authorization to Obtain Credit Reports
You authorize us and the lenders in our network to obtain your credit report and credit score from one or more consumer reporting agencies (credit bureaus), including but not limited to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. This authorization applies when you:
- Submit a loan application through our website or platform
- Request to be matched with lenders or receive loan offers
- Provide information that may be used to obtain a credit report for the purpose of evaluating your loan application
You understand that a credit inquiry may be made in connection with your application. This inquiry may appear on your credit report and may affect your credit score. Multiple inquiries from different lenders within a short period may be treated as a single inquiry for scoring purposes when you are rate shopping for a loan.
2. Purpose of Credit Checks
Your credit information is obtained and used for the following purposes:
- To Evaluate Your Loan Application: Lenders use your credit report and credit score to assess your creditworthiness, determine whether to approve or deny your application, and to set loan terms, interest rates, and fees.
- To Match You With Appropriate Lenders: We may use your credit profile to match you with lenders in our network who are likely to consider your application and offer you loan products that may fit your situation.
- To Verify Your Identity: Credit information may be used to verify your identity and prevent fraud.
- To Comply With Legal Requirements: Lenders are required by law to verify certain information and assess your ability to repay before extending credit.
3. Who May Access Your Credit Information
Your credit report and credit score may be obtained and used by:
- Gold Scepter Finances LLC, as a loan comparison and referral platform
- Third-party lenders in our network who receive your loan application
- Consumer reporting agencies (credit bureaus) that provide credit reports to us and our partner lenders
- Service providers who assist us or our partner lenders in processing applications, verifying identity, or preventing fraud
Each lender that receives your application may pull its own credit report. This means you may have multiple credit inquiries on your report when you apply through our platform, as we connect you with multiple lenders.
4. Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Compliance
We and our partner lenders comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable state laws governing the use of credit reports. Under the FCRA, you have the right to:
- Know what is in your credit report
- Dispute inaccurate or incomplete information in your credit report
- Receive a free copy of your credit report from each of the three nationwide credit bureaus once every 12 months at annualcreditreport.com
- Know when adverse action is taken based on your credit report (e.g., denial of credit) and receive information about the credit bureau that provided the report
If a lender takes adverse action (such as denying your application) based in whole or in part on information in your credit report, that lender is required to provide you with a notice that includes the name, address, and phone number of the credit bureau that furnished the report, and a statement of your right to obtain a free copy of your credit report and to dispute inaccurate information.
5. Soft vs. Hard Inquiries
When you submit an application through our platform, lenders may perform either a "soft" or "hard" credit inquiry:
- Soft Inquiry: A soft inquiry typically does not affect your credit score. It may occur when we or a lender pre-qualify you or when you check your own credit.
- Hard Inquiry: A hard inquiry occurs when a lender reviews your full credit report to make a lending decision. Hard inquiries may appear on your credit report and may have a small, temporary effect on your credit score. When you apply for a loan through multiple lenders, each lender may perform a hard inquiry.
By submitting your application, you consent to both soft and hard credit inquiries as necessary for lenders to evaluate and process your application.
6. Duration of Authorization
This authorization remains in effect for as long as your loan application is being processed and for a reasonable period thereafter as required for lenders to complete their evaluation, service your account if you are approved, and comply with applicable law. If you withdraw your application before it is processed, you may contact us to request that we do not forward your information to additional lenders; however, lenders who have already received your application may have already obtained your credit report.
7. Withdrawal of Authorization
You may withdraw your authorization at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or calling +1 970 4063551. Withdrawal of authorization will not affect credit inquiries that have already been made. If you withdraw before your application is submitted to lenders, we will not forward your application to additional lenders. If you withdraw after your application has been submitted, lenders who have already received your application may have already obtained your credit report and may continue to use it in accordance with their own policies and applicable law.
8. Relationship to Other Documents
This Credit Authorization is in addition to and does not replace our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, or E-Consent. By submitting a loan application, you agree to the terms of those documents as well. Please review them for additional information about how we collect, use, and protect your information.
